Remedez HairSpa sponsors makeover contest with Turning Point
Remedez HairSpa has sold thousands of gift cards for Mother’s Day through the years, and now they are giving back to the community with gift packages for three lucky Turning Point participants.
Until May 31, applications will be accepted at UVU’s Turning Point and Remedez in the University Mall for a makeover package including haircut, color, makeup, facial, manicure, pedicure and massage.
Now these women will have a new look to match their new life created by Turning Point, which is a community resource for people wanting to expand in a personal, educational and/or professional way.
Remedez owner Cynthia Gambill connected with Turning Point after learning its inspiring history.
The UVU program, founded more than 30 years ago by three women educators, has become a haven for single parents, displaced homemakers and low-income families. It focuses on the needs of people struggling with life’s tough transitions (i.e. finding employment, returning to school), and provides a safe environment for growth and learning.
It offers advocacy, mentoring, tutoring, community referrals, workshops and even a Professional Clothing Source in which local businesses and individuals have donated new and gently used clothing for clients to have at no charge.
What’s more, the program operates under the philosophy of personal responsibility and accountability.
“This program is so unique,” Cynthia says. “They are connectors. They assess the needs of each client and determine how best to help them. Remedez wanted to be a part of that.”
With most of Turning Point’s clientele being mothers, Remedez decided to do its part this Mother’s Day season by offering three women in the program a makeover.
It’s a new life, new look, new confidence.
Cynthia, who is active in many community organizations and charities across the valley, says, “This is our way of giving back to moms who would not be able to afford it otherwise.”
The three women selected will have their “befores” and “afters” featured in the July/August issue of Utah Valley Magazine.
