Service brings out inner beauty

When you serve, you are happy. And when you are happy, you are beautiful.
No one in the community understands beauty more than Cynthia Gambill, who is co-owner of Remedez and the chairman of Women in Philanthropy, which is part of the United Way of Utah County. She has seen first-hand the service-happiness-beauty combination.
“Women in the community have joined hands to help other women in the community through Women in Philanthropy,” Cynthia says. “I can’t think of anything more beautiful than that.”
In October 2006, United Way of Utah County Women in Philanthropy was established to provide a place for Utah County women to change their community through philanthropy and leadership.
Across the nation, United Way organizations have been forming similar groups and benefitting from the potential of women to make an impact to help other women and children. United Way of Utah County wanted a place for Utah County women to come together and make a difference.
And make a difference they have!
Nearly $100,000 has been raised and donated to 17 programs and initiatives related to women and children within our county borders. Most of the funds have been raised through membership fees and the annual “gong auction” gala.
With a theme of “In Her Shoes,” the heel-studded event includes dinner from Culinary Crafts, silent and live auctions, and the grand finale — the gong auction that simply has to be experienced in person.
Come join with Utah County’s leading group of philanthropic women. Each woman shows her commitment to enhance the quality of life in Utah County by focusing on giving women a greater voice in creating a stronger community.
