Congratulations to this week’s Friday Freebie winner, Melanie! Her funny anecdote about the demise of her favorite shoes in a freak rainstorm at an amusement park has won her a new pair of shoes and sunglasses from Apricot Lane. Her story is amusing, to say the least …

“I had a favorite pair of black lace-ups…. I literally wrapped them with tape to keep the soles on. They lasted about a year once they got to that pitiful point. They finally met their demise at a theme park in Florida–while we were walking from one roller coaster to another, a huge storm passed overhead and rained inches in a matter of minutes. The tape holding my shoes together disintegrated before my eyes, and the soles of my shoes came clean off. I didn’t have the heart to throw them away even then. I wonder what ever happened to them….”
